Here are a few tips to save people the trouble of filling out an application...
Are you not exalted with Sons of Hodir? Are you a miner and herbalist? Do you click abilities? Are you under 18?
If you answered yes to any of these questions remedy the situation before you apply.
It isn't required to have two non-gathering professions, but it shows your dedication to character improvement. The exception is main specification tank applications, mining is acceptable.

Another friendly tip, put some effort into your typing. Chances are if you can't be persuaded to use proper spelling and grammar or otherwise type like a retard we're going to assume you're retarded. We don't know you, make it look nice.

Are you not exalted with Sons of Hodir?
This means be exalted when you app, or very close to it. GCR might not be the most progressed or the most serious business but we're hardly terrible slouches even by mal'ganis standards and this is a pretty basic requirement showing that your motivated to do at least the very basic things to improve your character. There's no excuse not to have it this late in the game unless your a recent reroll and even then you're able to purchase the rep.

Please make sure your answers are longer than one or two sentences. It really shouldn't need to be said, but some of the applications we've gotten lately make me wonder whether or not the person actually wants to be accepted. An ideal application would involve some scrolling when we read through it, as opposed to looking like it took five minutes to write up.
1: Explain how you see your role in a raid and what you use to fill that role (class strengths, glyphs, mods, talent spec, etc.) also do you have any off-spec experience? The stuff in the brackets is there for a reason.
2: What is the one thing you wish you could change about your main class or spec, either to make you more effective or to make it more enjoyable to play? Be creative! We get way too many people that answer this question with "nothing". There has to be something that you'd change, if given the chance.
3: Explain your biggest strength and biggest weakness as a raider. How are you working to improve on this weakness? People never have a problem talking about their strengths, but the weakness part always gets a cop-out answer about hating stupid people or their gear not being BiS. We're talking about playstyle here, nobody's 100% all the time. You need to be able to recognize when you mess up and take criticism from other people without nerd-raging.
...
9: Combatlogs (for various roles if applicable, link the entire report not an individual fight): 10: Screenshot of your UI in a raid situation: These aren't optional. If you aren't in a guild at the moment or just came back from a break, etc. join a pug ToC or ICC and take some yourself. A screenshot in AV is acceptable, and preferable to one of you attacking a target dummy in Orgrimmar.
